The Geneva Altarpiece
Geneva, 1535. At the height of the struggle between Catholics and Protestants, an altarpiece is destroyed. However, part of the work escaped destruction. It’s a revolutionary painting made a century earlier. In a narrative that spans a Europe in crisis and war, the strange and real story of a painting and its painter is told.
“Historical romance, in the last decade, is unlikely to have reached an aesthetic level of such superior quality”
Miguel Real, Jornal de Letras - December 2008
